I went shopping.............

Blogger photo uploader has changed on my blog,so its taking me awhile to get used to it,anyway I went shopping and bought...................this military jacket from River Island

fringed best to wear under little jackets (too fat to wear on its own!!),2 slouchy vests in midnight blue/black and stone,again to wear under things,a tiger t-shirt,I need to try this on again to see if I'll keep it.Purple slouchy beret and leather driving gloves from Primark-I really don't need a pair of driving gloves but I loved the colour,a pair of double layer fingerless gloves,a thermal t-shirt (for work,not worth photographing),soft slightly glittery ballet pumps and 2x sea salt tubs for 50p each,bargain!!!
In River Island I saw the SA wearing these Carvela boots,so I went looking for them but couldnt find any,I have seen them on line though and they're £160!I love them though,if I have enough money I think I'll get them.

spells

I am having trouble selling my flat,theres nothing wrong with it but people are picky over silly things atm and my lease needs extending which is costing me £££££'s to sort out,anyway I decided to do a spell to help me sell it,it involves a statue of St Joseph which I have had to order off Ebay and apparently its a well known spell so I hope it works,although who knows if it will be down to this if I do sell,but it doesnt hurt to try it as I'm desperate to move!!

happy birthday !!!

I nearly forgot to post this,HAPPY BIRTHDAY Adam Ant-my favourite ever singer.

the good old days of blogging

Where have they gone?I used to post random happenings and drunken snogs-these days I have nothing interesting to say.I used to chat to several other bloggers who have now gone AWOL which is a shame cos I miss the banter-several,well more than that really,police blogs have been abandoned due to the persecution/fear of persecution in the job,again a shame 'cos it was interesting to read about others day jobs and really get what someone was talking about.

Is there anybody out there?????????

Jimmy Choo for H&M

I love this bag (the bottom one),whats the betting everyone queues madly then buys anything they can get their hands on and sells it on Ebay for vast profit?!!

I'd love this book for Christmas........

I know that no-one would buy it for me as I never get bought books except cookery books,even then I have to ask for them,and I dont think anyone knows I like CG,but I have always liked him since I was a kid and used to watch old B+W Hollywood films on telly on Saturday mornings (I hasten to add they were old films even then!!! he was so suave and such a good actor and incredibly handsome.

life goes on

Thats what I've learnt this past few weeks,you carry on and recall good memories.To take my mind off things I did what aways works-other than getting drunk and bought the following;
this sequin beret-you may recall I have bought a couple of these before,but this was a fiver from Primark and actually fits me!

this blouse which also came in black-its my failsafe dandy style and nicely skims all my fat bits and looks fab under the jacket I bought.£10

this little tux style jacket-looks so much nicer IRL and the shoulders puff up quite a bit which makes me feel very modern-last time I loved shoulder pads it was the 80's!

close up of the heart shaped buttons and lining!so cute!

the back detail,its slightly cropped so this nestles in the small of the back.

Being almost an Essex/East End girl,I also got myself this Juicy-a-like tracky in black and a pair of the joggers in grey.I have had some before but these are much better and have ribbons as ties which is sweet.

and these blusher balls to try but I think they may be too light for me-and I'm pale!

I also finally got hold of the TS skull tee I wanted but it looks horrible on me as its too long so its going back!

a sad but lovely send off

I went to the funeral last week,I got to work and was instantly a bag of nerves and tears when I saw my usually scruffy colleagues tunic-ed up with boots bulled and gloves on.I was spilling things everywhere cos I was nervous/upset-boot polish all over the floor,and I had to do my hair twice.
We arrived and met up with colleagues past and present,then we began the honour parade.I stared into the distance cos I knew if I looked at my friend opposite I start to cry,and I knew she was doing the same,then the bagpipes played and the bikes led the cars in as they started driving down between us and I made the 'mistake' of looking into the cars and seeing his wife and children,one of whom loooked right at me and that was it.Its hard to cry without screwing up your face and wailing,but I just about did it.We followed the coffin (with helmet ontop) into the church,and the service was lovely actually.A few anecdotes and the story of a life.Then outside and standing to attention again,the Last Post and it was over.
Me and the lads on my relief had to head back as we were straight back on duty,but we all had a little cry in the car-what other job would you be expected to do that?You never get chance to go with your emotions as you have to put your professional face on.I could have really done with a drink that day.

why me?

Late,late,info this morning saying that due to a complaint (10 a penny in the police) means I cant transfer.I have already handed in my notice so at this moment I'm not even sure I have a job as from next week.Why me?I haven't done anything wrong but it doesnt matter in this line of business,its guilty 'till proven innocent,so even though it will NEVER go anywhere I lose everything..welcome to the modern day police service.

leaving drinks

I had mine this week-I havent actually left yet but due to shifts and other commitments,I had it early and I drank so much I drank myself sober.I've done that a few times and I don't know if you do actually get more sober or you just get used to being very drunk?Then I had a curry that I couldnt eat most of!Managed not to do anything embarrassing either for a change!!
I think some people are only believing I am really going now as it was in General Orders-I was quite surprised at how many people emailed me,etc to say 'good luck and keep intouch'-I didnt invite my old place of work,just a couple of people-I can do without all the dramas and gossip and man at work was most not welcome.

I will miss them

Last night we were at one of our favourite tea spots and enjoying a lull in calls,just messing about and chatting rubbish and having a laugh and it suddenly hit me I will miss my relief when I leave.I hope my new team will be as funny and will get my SOH and can tolerate me on nights when I'm on one of my mad ones after drinking a Morrisons High energy drink (Red Bull doesnt work for me but these get me hyper!!).

Having said that I am looking forward to leaving,it will be a new start/adventure for me especially as I am moving as well.I can get away from man at work (christened m@w by Moooog I think it was!) too which is what I need.

pirate boots

I'd love some Viviene Westwood boots as Ive always liked her pirate look since the day I discovered Adam Ant who has remained one of the great influences in my life+style+tastes.If I can afford some I think I deserve them after all this time,however the costs of moving are prioity atm so I'm going to check out Ebay or satisfy the need with some studded boots that look to be around in A/W.Just the look of pirate boots conjures up all sorts of thoughts for me-historical influences,music,gigs,oil paintings,they are the sort of item I loved at 12,18,26 and now so some things you never go off do you?

Dorothy Perkins studded boots-maybe a bit pointy?

Vivienne Westwood beauties-£345

I posted about these Carvela ones awhile ago-£120,I'd need to try these on as they are still quite pricey.

NARS windstar eye shadow duo-palest pink and subtle gold,my perfect colours!!!

a cream studded bangle-I love studs on anything and this also matches a vintage arm bangle I have,also a silver colour ring that I just think is gorgeous!

a new waterproof wash bag that I kept meaning to get and a Juicy Couture top-I think I'm going to Ebay this though.

tea and gossip

This morning I dragged myself out of bed and did round 2 of car boot challenge-that is selling all my old stuff and clearing the flat as much as possible before moving.It went really well and I made £110 from stuff that I didnt want anymore-and got a bit more sunburnt on my arm-I never learn!When I got back,I popped round to my neighbours for tea and a natter,now anyone who has followed my blog from way back when will probably remember 'white van man' formerly known as 'blue van man'-hes the man in my street who I fancy and who has checked me out on more than a few occasions!Well I havent seen him about for awhile but didnt think anything of it,the reason for that is because he has apparently got some woman in the next road round pregnant,and he is married with 2 kids (this I knew-hence admiring from afar!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!shock horror!!!!cheeky bugger,still was checking me out though inspite of having 2 women on the go!!!!

wardrobe re-think

I was reading somewhere (possibly a blog?) how men like Jenifer Anistons style because its simple and unchallenging and they understand it,rather than say fashionable clothes that most women would recognise and admire and covet,and its made me think about the sort of things I wear,and buy-but-dont wear and whether my age is something to do with that and if I should set myself a style to wear and not deviate too much outside of it?On the inside of my wardrobe I always pin up looks I like to inspire me and lots of those seem to be of well cut jeans,a floaty draped top,statement necklace,designer bag and heels so there is a theme there!
Like this;

and this.....

Things I buy but dont wear or get enough wear out of;

earrings

heeled boots
patterned dresses
winter coats-this one is due to the fact that for the last 5 years I have driven to work,I used to love buying and wearing a new winter coat!

Things I always wear;
jeans
vest tops
t-shirts
ballet flats
Havaianas
boyfriend cardigans
All Saints drape cardigans
long scarves
big bags

so I was wondering if I should buy the best of those items and give up on the things I love but dont wear?I think plainer items suit me rather than frilly floaty things and my good male shopping friend (yes they exist!)says I look better in bright colours,although I prefer neutrals generally-all my dresses are quite loud though-leopard prints,bold B+W prints,pink and purple etc.I love Lauren Conrads look-she wears quite basic items accessorised well with gorgeous bags and big sunnies and beautiful hair,these photos some up the look I like.

I have in the past worn a quite 'rock chick' look,vintage looks,but the one look that I always like is the well groomed feminine look like LC wears and I love my bags/sunnies/jeans so what do you think?

smugness

I'm feeling rather smug this weekend as I managed to get out of working Notting Hill Carnival,which as anyone in my job knows is practically impossible!Not even working double bubble today will get me to voluntarily do this if I can get out of it-standing around for 12 hours+on a concrete floor with people asking me what floats are where (how would I know as I never actually see anything of interest),how to get in/out/etc of stations,eating shit food-we dont get any jerk chicken/ackee and saltfish,which is gutting as I love Jamaican food and all-round general weariness from 'bad boys' or clueless out-of-towners-the sound systems are bone shakingly loud and even though we finally had earpieces fitted last year,they hurt your ears and you have to take them out to hear one of the above stupid Q's anyway.
Like I said I am smug and happy not to be working the damn thing!

more little jobs finished...

I got my handy man to do these but at last they're done;

hang a Victorian door a lady on the next street gave me
wire up a new light in the kitchen
mend the architraving in the bathrooom

done and a bargain!

I have finished painting the living room.

car booting!

One of the things on the list I had to do before moving was to have a car boot sale to get rid of some of my accumulated junk,anyway I did one today after cramming my little car full-I made £107 after taking out the fee,I think I'll just give the left over stuff to charity as I'm not sure I can face doing it again.I got sunburnt as it was so hot,and hated not being able to wander round and look myself!
This is a photo I took,I was trying to get the man in the African pyjamas in to send to my friend for a joke!

Monday, August 17, 2009

I bought this dress tunic from H&M-I might cut it down a bit though.
I also got some pale grey skinnies from Primark,some tie dyed blue jeans (not sure about these on me-I think I'm too old!),a purple boyfriend cardigan and the usual hair bits and underwear,quite restrained I think!

gorgeous orchid-I have put this in my bathroom and it looks lovely with the pale blue walls-obviously I am still going to move but it makes the room look pretty.

paint bodge

dont read this if you are a perfectionist-I glued the peeled off foot shaped patch of paint that peeled off my wall and then filled the ddges with filler and sanded it down and then painted over it and you can barely see it-see?bodging does work sometimes!!

DIY

I used to love it,now I hate it with a passion!I am painting my living room prior to putting the flat on the market as it hadn't been painted for ages and really needed freshening up and its hellish!
It makes it worse cos I have to keep moving the furniture round rather than having an empty room to just get on with.I normally get paint over everything but have only done this on one kitchen chair atm which is quite good going for me.I'm painting with white paint which is a mare to do until it dries too-now I just have the ceiling to paint,which I know I should have done first but I didnt.And I have to 'sort' (read:bodge)a patch of paint that peeled off the wall in the shape of a foot-so ignoring the advice of Dad,I have glued it back on and intend to paint over it rather than scrape it all off and start afresh-donkeys years of paint layers?no way!!

not quite the good life just yet

my beetroot-not looking too edible at the moment though

my tomato plant

a close up of the ONE ripe tomato,surely they should be ripe by now?!

I have another tomato plant that only has 1 tomato on it,the beans all got eaten by snails,the strawberry plants are going strong but hardly any strawberries though!My bay tree is looking healthy and was another car boot bargain at £4-my cucumbers never really happened and my lettuces also got eaten by slugs or snails,the only up point being I don't mind picking up slugs now and throwing them into next doors garden which I know under normal conditions would be spiteful but the flat upstairs have never looked after the garden as its rented and no-one seems interested in it.

my latest craze...

is car boot sales,I went to one today and was excited at what I bought;

this wooden box £2.50

these Uggs,£1-they are to wear in the house when my toes get cold!

I also got a pretty ceramic jug and oval serving plate for 20p each-the jug I have just washed and will sell when I do a boot sale to get rid of my junk!I couldnt say no for 20p.
a GOSH hoody-one of those from the Wags boutique programme-£4,ideal for work.
and new make up for £6,Body Shop concealer,Revlon nail polish x2 and a No7 Radiant glow moisturiser.
Bargainous!

healthy nails

my nails have been very dry of late,its because I always wear nail polish and it chips easily due to people trying to fight me on a regular basis so I put it on and take it off more often than average,anyway I was recommended this by http://vexinthecityx.blogspot.com/ and it arrived today so I will report back on how it works

I also bought this as I saw a review on http://helesays.blogspot.com

so hope that one or both work for me.

moving updates (not much to report)

1.get a valuation-had the standard 3 estate agents round the give me 'valuations' and I have picked one who I thought would do the job best,he has said to market offers in the 'region of' which I'm hoping will work out best price wise.
2.finish painting the front of the flat-er,I started it.I have bought a proper roller though cos its so hard to paint over pebbledash (not my choice)
3.finish off those little jobs I couldnt really afford to get done before-made some progress.or,yes *some* progress!I did buy a paint runner-which is a roller that you pour paint into and isnt supposed to not splatter everything in sight with paint,this is good because I am a messy painter,I managed to get paint on my house keys keyring (Gucci) and on my dress doh!
4.find out about extending the lease-still need to get this sorted,I might have to get a chartered surveyer involved.(more money)
5.decide on an area I like that I can afford and is near a tube or overground station-been looking like mad on Rightmove,the trouble with my job is that I only remember the crimes in an area and I'm getting paranoid about moving next door to some scrote.
6.decide exactly what to look for-ideally I would like a Victorian detached house (rare and certainly not going to happen on my budget!)but realistically should be able to just about afford a small Victorian 2 bed.
7.find out how much I can borrow-been to see a mortgage advisor and have to go again this Saturday-theres an hour of my life I'll never get back!
8.de-clutter-got rid of some stuff on Ebay and actually made some money!!Car boot next if I can bear it,anything after that I'm getting rid of!

RIP

7/7 or however you want to name it,its 4 years ago today since 52 innocent people were murdered on London Underground,I said I wouldn't forget and I haven't.

This was my welcome to policing and I think this was also the point that I realised it was the right decision to join.I very rarely travel through Russell Square but everytime I do,I get a memory of that day,and it reminds me to do what I do better.

moving...........

I decided last weekend I wanted to move flats,quite alot to do with the sort of people who are moving into the area and because I crave more privacy than I currently have.So once I decided,I have a list of things to do;

1.get a valuation-done but I need to get some more,not convinced about the valuation really as the prices seem so variable atm in my neck of the woods.
2.finish painting the front of the flat-er,I started it but its been so hot!
3.finish off those little jobs I couldnt really afford to get done before-made some progress.
4.find out about extending the lease-done but the freeholders are quoting £20k-£20k!!!I dont bloody think so,I have also found out about lease extension advisers who negotiate on your behalf,theres no way it should cost this much,the p*sstaking gits!
5.decide on an area I like that I can afford and is near a tube or overground station-been looking like mad on Rightmove.
6.decide exactly what to look for-I have a 1 bed flat atm,so it seems mad to move to another 1 bed unless its in a really fab area (unlikely) so I would need a 2 bed maisonette or house (not sure I can afford it).I also realise I really need a private garden,my garden atm is divided down the middle and although there is a fence up,its just not private enough for me.
7.find out how much I can borrow-initial enquiries done.All I can say is it varies so much,but is more than I thought might be on offer.
8.de-clutter-I am going to d a car boot sale to get rid of some stuff and have some auctins on Ebay.

I do love my flat but I can see myself getting more and more unhappy with the lack of privacy,I will be sorry to leave some of the neighbours though some of whom have lived on this street for 40 years or more!
